About this experience

Open to all!

Join local guide Rob Rees for a fabulous walk across the top of Aberedw Hill to trig point overlooking the Wye Valley.

Find out about the local history, geography, geology and admire the fabulous scenery.  From the site it's a short, swift ascent to the 'top of the hill'.  You'll spot your pitch while looking out at the ancient hills surrounding it, including Gilwern, Carneddau, and the lofty heights of Radnor Forest at the top of the valley.

Aberedw Hill is loved by many for the fantastic walks on the top, the hill top is plateau and you can walk for miles on gently undulating ground while looking out at the most stunning 360° view of the region.

Once at the trig point, which is perched on a round barrow burial mound on the far side of the hill, you can return with Rob to the campsite OR your own way on to the pub at Aberedw (The Seven Stars).

You'll return along the back of the farm (somewhere many of you may not have found even if you've been coming for years) and then back onto the East end of the farm and along the bottom track to the campsite.

It's one of our all time favourite walks.  We hope you enjoy it!

Children welcome, suggest 7ish yrs+. Parts of the walk may be a bit much for very small legs, but if you're happy having them on your shoulders then you should be fine.  Near the start and end of the walk there are plenty of places to leave the walk early and return to the site if needs be.  Children joining should be capable and resilient walkers.
